The Children’s Wellness Network (CWN) hosted their first FunFest! in June attended by close to 500 guests, who strolled around Cator Woolford Gardens in Atlanta gathering inspiration and information about healthy living while having good old fashioned fun.

Yoga for Kids and the Obstacle Course Food Relay Race were two of the most popular attractions. The Cooking with Kids demonstrations featuring Sevananda Natural Foods Market, Destiny Produce, Les Dames D’Eschoffier, The Flying Biscuit and CWN Nutrition Specialist Asata Reid of Life Chef were also a tremendous success, and families took home inspiration and practical tools to implement healthier nutrition in their daily lives.

“One of our goals in creating this event was to highlight the many alternative and holistic organizations available in Atlanta, so that people can see there is an easily accessible market for this lifestyle,” shared Ahzjah Simons, marketing manager of Sevananda and CWN founder. “The FunFest! accomplished this goal, and did a great job getting the word out about the Angry Mom’s Movement.” Director Amy Kalafa’s film presented a powerful message about how crucial change is in school lunch programs.

FunFest! was the kick-off event for the Children’s Wellness Network sponsored by Natural Awakenings, Organic Valley, Sara Speert Photography, Sevananda Natural Foods Market and Panola Mountain State Park, as well as a fundraiser for CWN partners Georgia Organics and Two Angry Moms. Children’s Wellness Network was recently nominated by Panola Mountain State Park, initiated by the American Recreational Coalition as an official National Get Outdoors Day site. The FunFest represented specific aspects of the Get Outdoors Georgia initiative geared toward promoting wellness by encouraging people to reconnect with nature, get outdoors, get dirty and get fit! FunFest received proclamations from the Atlanta City Council and Dekalb County for their efforts.
